Wake Up

"Wakey-wakey, rise and shine!" Lyle's voice was so cheerful that it made Lester want to strangle him.

"What time is it?" Lester managed to get his mouth working enough to ask the question.

"7am, the sun is shining, the wind is blowing – "

"And you're going to die if you don't moderate your tone." Lester pushed the duvet down.

"Aw, what's the matter, bunnykins?" Lyle crooned. "Did the big, bad government hatchet man have trouble keeping up with his brother in the cave yesterday?"

Lester snorted, then winced. "No, petal, not the cave. It was the champagne afterwards."

Lyle snickered.
